SUMMARY:Spring Foraging Walk Keele
DESCRIPTION:Spring Foraging Walk Keele\, Staffordshire \n \n \nCome join me in celebrating Spring with a foraging walk! \nThis is a mid week walk. \nEscape the indoors and come and immerse yourself in nature with a delightful foraging adventure in the heart of Staffordshire. Together\, we’ll embark on a journey to immerse ourselves in what nature has to offer. \nLed by Emma\, from Wild Pickle who is a passionate forager and lover of wild food\, we will begin a journey into the edibles springing up now. It’s an opportunity to connect with the natural world\, awaken your senses and nurture a beautiful appreciation for the flora that surrounds us. \nDuring our walk\, we’ll use our senses to learn to identify various plant species. We will have the chance to learn some of what is edible and what is definitely not! \nWhile we are foraging\, we’ll also delve into the ethics and etiquette of gathering our wild food\, whilst being careful and sustainable. \nI hope by the time our walk draws to a close\, you’ll be inspired and armed with lots of ideas on how to mix a few wild greens into your culinary repertoire. We will finish our journey with some wild food tasters. \nThis is a 3.5hr walk to allow us to enjoy the surroundings and plants. \n \nSo\, bring a flask\, wear warm clothes\, walking boots\, waterproofs if it is wet\, and prepare for a day of exploration. Our adventure will proceed rain or shine unless conditions dictate we need to cancel. \nDetailed instructions will be provided closer to the event date\, ensuring you’re fully prepared.

SUMMARY:Spring Forage & Ferment Workshop at Keele
DESCRIPTION:Spring Forage and Ferment Workshop\, Keele \nMarch 14th 10am to 4.30pm \n \nWelcome to Spring! The woods and hedgerows are bringing forth beautiful edible Spring greens that are flavoursome and so nourishing. Emma from Wild Pickle is keen to share the love of foraging with you\, introduce you to some delicious greens that Spring offers\, offer information on how to identify edibles\, and how to forage in a safe and a sustainable way.  \n(Keele University has been planted with flowering cherries since the first ornamental grounds were laid out in the late 1940s. Since then various flowering cherries have been added around the campus to the extent that springtime on the campus has become synonymous with cherry blossom. This is now one of the defining features of the campus.  It is a National Collection and recipient of an Award of Commendation by the Japanese Ambassador. if we are lucky with our timings we may well see some beautiful displays! And of course you can create some delicious things with cherry blossom!) \n \nAfter a couple of hours of getting out into the beautiful landscape of Staffordshire\, Keele\, we will head back to the KPA.  \nLunch will have Spring interwoven through it to share what can be done\, and nourish you and inspire you!  \nWe will then spend the afternoon creating 2 ferments to take home and learn ways to preserve our harvests. Emma has spent the last 15 years fermenting and soaking up ways to enjoy the Spring and has a great love for food to share.  \n \nThere will be recipes available to be sent out via email to you to help you continue your foraging and fermenting journey! \nSo look forward to sharing this wonderful day with you! \n \n
